Aaargh. Al this to get a site 10 times slower, that you can't update with a simple text editor anymore. Have you seen the time it takes when it (tries to) work? From ''"Save"'' to ''"New"'' it's anything up to 30 seconds - that is the total time it takes me to commit changes to ALL 5 pages of http://tic.zenerves.net with the latest news for the whole week.

Freshly installed with Main Workstation status here at> Tropical Central, Slackware
is all what you expect - and all what you fear: upon start-up, you only end
up in a terminal, keyboard layout is undefined... Well, it feels a bit barebone really. But
then, you need something, pull the code from source and compiling wouldn't fail - alongside with
Gentoo, Slackware is the sole distribution that I know where you can do that out-of-the-box. The ToDo
list you end up with when installing Slackware is a bit longer than with some others, but this
12.2 one got me with working sound and network, playing flash anims, movies & music! Ok, my
webcam and microphone aren't there yet, but who says that Slack was a MultimediaMonster? It's not; it's a
full-featured, carefully crafted traditional distribution that is intended to feel, look
and act as Linux was always meant to be. It feels good.

OK, Let's make it clear: One needs a Business Plan. Choice of words may be unwise, since I don't plan myself making cash out of it, I yet have to justify running costs.

=Ethics=

Any such Business Plan ''must'' fit with the ethics of Free Software. That does mean that you ''can'' make money out of it, but that (to simplify) the concept of intellectual property has to go (quite) through the window. People must share ideas, models,... Code?

What's the fuss about Ethics after all, we are quite far away from OpenSource Central, arent't we? Well, yes indeed but that's 50% of the plan: explain, convince, evangelise about it. Better be the first to show the way...

=As of Now=

* Everything that happen in my office is free, be it for personal use or pro.
* Every request on-location must be paid for (Delivery is one dollar, etc).

=Targets=

* At 50 Discs out, I buy www.tropicalicecube.net or www.distrotheque.com
* At 100 discs out, I buy the correct CD/DVD cover printer

* Make business pay for their software, because they are aware of the system, where if they pay other people can have it for free.
